Welcome!
Welcome to the Counselor's Corner! My name is Vanessa Lofstedt and I am the School Counselor at Garrison-Jones Elementary School. I have a background in child development and psychology, and I have experience in various positions working with children and families. I am a graduate of the University of South Florida’s Counselor Education program with a specialization in school counseling. I also have a graduate certificate in play therapy, which is an approach to counseling that uses the normal communication and learning style of children, play. The strategies used in play therapy help children express what is troubling them when they do not have the verbal language to express their thoughts and feelings.
